Terms & Conditions

Last updated: March 2026. Please read these terms carefully before subscribing. By subscribing you agree to be bound by them.

1. About us

Letters from Emma is operated in the United Kingdom. References to "we", "us", or "our" in these terms refer to Letters from Emma. References to "you" or "your" refer to the person subscribing or using this website.

If you have any questions, please contact us at [email protected].

2. The subscription service

Letters from Emma is a physical subscription service. Subscribers receive two letters per month, forming a continuous serialised story set in Regency-era England. The Gift plan runs for twelve months and does not renew. Monthly and Annual plans continue until cancelled. All plans include UK postage.

The service is available worldwide. Postage is included in the subscription price for UK and EU addresses. An additional delivery charge applies for addresses outside the UK and European Union.

3. Ordering and account

By placing an order, you confirm that you are at least 18 years of age and are legally capable of entering into a contract. You are responsible for ensuring that all information you provide — including your name, delivery address, and payment details — is accurate and up to date.

A subscription contract is formed when we confirm your order by email.

4. Pricing and payment

All prices are shown in pounds sterling (GBP) and include VAT where applicable. Current prices are:

  • Monthly: £12.95 per month, billed monthly.
  • Annual: £99.95 per year, billed annually.
  • Annual Gift: £124.95, a one-time payment.

Prices are subject to change. Existing subscribers will be given at least 30 days' notice of any price increase before it applies to their subscription.

Payments are processed securely by Stripe. We do not store payment card details.

5. Delivery

Letters are dispatched by Royal Mail. Delivery timescales are estimates and not guaranteed. We are not liable for delays caused by Royal Mail or other circumstances beyond our control. For full delivery information, see our Shipping & Returns page.

6. Cancellation and refunds

Your right to cancel and our refund policy are set out in full on our Shipping & Returns page, which forms part of these terms.

7. Intellectual property

All content delivered as part of the Letters from Emma subscription — including the text of letters, illustrations, and enclosures — is the intellectual property of Letters from Emma. You may not reproduce, distribute, or publish any part of it without our prior written consent. This does not affect your right to share personal photographs of your letters for non-commercial purposes on social media.

8. Limitation of liability

Nothing in these terms limits or excludes our liability for death or personal injury caused by negligence, fraud, or any other liability that cannot be excluded by law.

Subject to the above, our total liability to you in connection with the subscription shall not exceed the total amount paid by you in the 12 months preceding the event giving rise to the claim.

We are not liable for any indirect, special, or consequential losses.

9. Service availability

We reserve the right to suspend or discontinue the service at any time. If we are unable to fulfil the remaining portion of a subscription due to circumstances within our control, we will issue a pro-rata refund for undelivered letters.

10. Privacy

Our Privacy Policy explains how we collect and use your personal data. It forms part of these terms.

11. Governing law

These terms are governed by the laws of England and Wales. Any disputes shall be subject to the exclusive jurisdiction of the courts of England and Wales, without prejudice to your rights as a consumer under the laws of your country of residence.

12. Changes to these terms

We may update these terms from time to time. We will notify active subscribers of material changes by email at least 14 days before they take effect. Continued use of the service after that date constitutes acceptance of the revised terms.
